pool-coversPool covers serve not only for the protection of children but they can also be a great water saver, preventing water from evaporating especially during warm weather. Newer types make use of heat retaining materials that captures heat, retaining it in the water keeping the temperature just right. More greening can be added by swapping that gas or electric pool heater with solar ones that gives you free heat from the sun in conjunction with your pool cover.
Solar lighting is also available through panels installed right besides your heater on the roof, charging a battery and providing a safe power source for the DC lighting system compared to the dangers of AC current which is quite dangerous with water. Autonomous systems keep the water to a comfortable temperature with little maintenance pumping water from the pool into the solar heater panels, letting gravity take them back or storing them into insulated tanks for use when needed. The sun is a seemingly endless source of free energy, but it won’t last forever so you’d better take advantage of the free energy, wait a couple of million years and the sun will run out of fuel!
